Welcome to the New Jersey Chapter of the Afro American Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc.!
The New Jersey Chapter of the African-American Historical and Genealogical Society was officially established on April 13, 1990 when the Charter was presented by Silvia Cook Martin, National AAHGS President. For over twenty years the NJAAHGS has strived to preserve African ancestral family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by promoting research and disseminating information throughout the community. We seek to create a network of persons with similar interest, sharing our experiences and resources to assist members in documenting their histories.
